Palm Springs: Where the Sun Goes to Vacation
The Historical Allure of Palm Springs
Southern California remains one of the most desired locations to live and vacation. From Los Angeles to San Diego, the temperate climate of the region is what primarily draws people to the region. However, roughly 2 hours from Los Angeles there is a place which continues to attract those seeking a resort-like atmosphere with plenty of sun and warm temperatures: Palm Springs.
The 1940’s and 50’s witnessed the start of moderate and mindful development within Palm Springs, attracting many well-known celebrities in need of an enjoyable and quick getaway. Today, Palm Springs continues to be a magnet to celebrities for its golf and spa offerings. However, it also attracts and welcomes people from every walk of life – especially, Snowbirds. These are people from Canada and the northern United States who aren’t too fond of icy temperatures and abandon their chilly northern environment for some "R&R" in warm and toasty places, such as Palm Springs. This is such a common occurrence for Canadians that there are several flights a week during the winter season between major Canadian cities and Palm Springs.
