Renting a car through Costco Travel’s Low Price Finder is a fast and easy way to save money on your next car rental. Here is a countdown of the top 10 frequently asked questions we receive from Costco members.
10. Can I reserve a rental car with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive?
It depends on the rental car location. The vehicle details listed on the Low Price Finder will indicate whether the rental car company can guarantee four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for your selection. If this information is not listed in the vehicle details, we recommend contacting the rental location directly. Some locations only offer four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for specific car categories, such as SUVs. We can’t guarantee the availability of four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles.
9. Are there fees to cancel my rental car?
We have great news for you! Rental car reservations made through Costco Travel’s Low Price Finder may be canceled without a penalty fee any time prior to pick up by logging in. You may also cancel by calling us at 1-855-863-0357 or the rental car agency directly.
Please note: Canceled reservations cannot be reinstated so make sure you really want to cancel. If you reserved a car over the phone and it is a prepay rate, you may be subject to a cancellation fee.

7. Does Costco Travel offer rental car insurance?
We don’t offer or include rental car insurance. However, optional insurance is available through the rental car company and you can add it at the rental counter when you are picking up your car.
We also recommend that you check with your auto insurance carrier or credit card company to see if rental car insurance is included in your coverage.
6. Does the primary driver on a rental car reservation have to be a Costco member?
Yes, the primary driver should be a Costco member, and be prepared to show their Costco membership card at the time of pick up at the counter. If the primary driver doesn't have one to show, the Costco Travel discount will not apply.
5. Who can I speak to about issues encountered during my trip?
Once you’ve returned from your trip, please complete the Post-Trip Inquiry Form - Opens a dialog , where you can open a claim, provide feedback or start a find Costco Shop Card inquiry. All inquiries submitted online or by phone will receive a response within 3-4 weeks, and will be processed in the order received.
4. Do I get an additional driver for free with my rental car reservation?
Yes. Costco Travel rental car reservations include one free additional driver at U.S. locations with Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise. At Canada locations, reservations include one free additional driver with Alamo and Enterprise only.
The primary driver must be a current Costco member and be prepared to present a valid Costco membership card at the rental counter. Additional drivers do not need to be Costco members, but must be present at the rental counter and provide a valid driver’s license to be added to the reservation. Additional fees will apply for drivers under 25 years old.

Yes, as long as the primary driver has a valid Costco membership card in their own name to present at the time of pick up.
