Welcome to Bergen, the old city with a young outlook. Bergen grew up around its colorful harbor – it was the hub of commerce, seafaring, and craftsmanship. It became the north’s largest city, Norway’s first capital city, and the seat of royalty. Bergensers have an inborn love for their city and even newcomers quickly fall under its spell. Bergen is a charming city full of small wooden houses. They scramble up the mountainsides and compete for space with wealthy mansions, flaunting themselves into the city. Clusters of old houses cling together in among the new quarters. Bergensers take a keen interest in protecting their grass-root traditions and building styles, and Bergen architecture is distinctive yet diverse. Though Bergen has suffered many fires over the centuries, it still has one of Europe’s largest conglomerates of wooden houses.

Port of Call Alesund

Overview
Alesund is a port town on the west coast of Norway, at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. It’s known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904, as documented at the Jugendstilsenteret museum. There are panoramic views of Ålesund’s architecture, the surrounding archipelago, and fjords from the Mount Aksla lookout.

Overview
Andalsnes town, More og Romsdal co., W Norway, at the head of the Romsdalfjord. It is a popular tourist resort. In World War II, the town was heavily damaged when the Germans pushed back (1940) an Allied landing.

Port of Call Romsdalsfjord

Overview
The Romsdalsfjord is a long fjord. It starts below the steep mountains in Rauma and ends at the coast outside Molde. The variety is there, nature experiences and activities are waiting for you... Sea kayaking in the Romsdalsfjord is an adventure with many possibilities. In the innermost part of Romsdalsfjord, there are narrow parts with surrounding steep and high mountains, further out we have small isles and more open areas. Outside Molde, we have a rugged coastline with its thousands of islands. If you start paddling from Isfjorden, you can reach the coastline in a day or two. Fishing trips in Romsdalsfjord are always popular if the riverfishing is bad. A boat trip on the fjord is an adventure itself, and sometimes the fishing can be very good. If the weather is nice, nothing is better than relaxing in a quiet fjord with shrimp and something to drink. The Romsdalsfjord does not always have MMediterraneantemperatures in the water, but during a warm summer day, it can be more than 20 degrees Celcius in the water. Nice swimming and diving possibilities in several places, the most popular are beside the sandpit in Veblungsnes, Kammen in Åndalsnes, and Saltkjelsneset Camping in Eidsbygda. From late May to the beginning of July there are summer ski possibilities at Trollstigen, Juratin,d, and other mountains in Romsdalen. After a day skiing it can be refreshing with a swim in the Romsdalsfjord. You don't need many minutes by car from the mountains to the fjord.

Overview
Hardanger is a name that Norwegians associate with blossom and fruit. In truth the orchard of Norway! Who would believe that you can grow apples, pears, plums, and even cherries at 60° north? A mild and pleasant climate and clear, light summer nights are ideal for our guests, as well as for fruit and berries. In the center of the district is the Hardangerfjord. High up you enter the Hardangervidda National Park and two of Norway’s largest glaciers, Folgefonna and Hardangerjokulen. From mountains and glaciers the majestic waterfalls foam down into the queen of fjords. This is Hardanger - a mixture of cold and warm, wilderness and quiet idylls, of old traditions and modern times!

The menu is a celebration of the fine provenance of the US, British Isles and Australia. The Verandah takes design inspiration from the original Verandah Grill on board Queen Mary.
