Carved out by glaciers that formed gorges millions of years ago, it is often said that "Ithaca is gorges!".

Ithaca is a hiker’s paradise, featuring over 150 waterfalls within ten miles. With so many waterfalls so close together, you are likely to visit several in one trip. Afterward, rest (or shop) at the Ithaca Commons and grab a late-night bite to prepare for the next day’s explorations. Ithaca is also home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, which means the population changes with the seasons as college students come and go. Summer is warm, but quickly gives way to a cooler fall and then a snowy winter. In fact, just 30 minutes outside of Ithaca is Greek Peak Mountain Resort, central New York's largest ski resort.
